With the U.S. Open under way, it’s time to start focusing on some of the hotties out on the tennis court. Our Right Fielders Hottie of the Day is Caroline Wozniacki, who is currently ranked 21 in the world. She is set to play Victoria Azarenak in the third round of the Open. We’re not the only ones who think she’s a hottie…our friends at Co-Ed Magazine think so too.
As a biography, Caroline Wozniacki was born on JUly 11, 1990 in Odense, Denmark. She is 18 years old. Athletics run in her family, as her mother was a former member of the Polish national volleyball team and her father played professional football in Germany. Caroline’s older brother, Patrick, plays for BK Fren in Copenhagen.
Caroline started her training as a tennis player at a young age. In 2004, she competed in the Osaka Mayor’s Cup at age 14 and won the singles title. She would turn pro on July 18, 2005. The following year, she won the Junior Championships in Wimbledon in 2006.
2007 was a year of firsts for Caroline. She had her first Top 100 finish after a full season on the Tour and made three Grand slam debuts – Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. She was ranked at a career high of 62 on October 15.
2008 saw Caroline make it to the 4th round of the Australian Open in January, and that month she went from No. 64 to No. 45. In March, she reached the 4th round at Indian Wells, only to fall to Svetlana Kuznetsova. Caroline competed at the Beijing Olympics, but lost in the third round to Elena Dementieva, who went on to win the gold. Just last week, Caroline won the Pilot Pen tournament in New Haven, Connecticut, beating Anna Chakvetadze 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
