Tennis hottie Maria Sharapova will be missing the ongoing US Open due to a shoulder injury. She will however be in New York doing some events, her website says.
Maria, who won the grand slam in 2006, hasn’t skipped a major tournament since debuting in 2003.
“It hurts me so much to miss the Olympics and the U.S. Open, you have no idea,” she said. “Just to type those words hurt!!”
Maria recently underwent a five-day treatment at Scottsdale Mondrian rehab center. She did not compete in the Beijing Olympics for the same reason.
“I’ve been walking hills a lot and biking a little bit outdoors,” says Sharapova. “I don’t do heavy weights at all. I go to yoga classes and work on my core.”
Her fans will definitely be missing the unique style statements she made last time during the Grand Slam. I still remember her custom dresses with glittering neckline giving her a red-carpet look in the court. Though, I’ve heard, had she been playing this time, Sharapova would have worn a velvet dress with silky neckline.
Meanwhile, she recently launched her limited edition of Canon PowerShot Diamond Collection.
