Meet Alexandra Orlando, a rhythm gymnast from Canada who has been voted as the hottest Beijing Olympics athlete. She beat 49 other women athletes for the top spot. See photos, video and her biography here.
Alexandra has also been featured on the cover of Chataline, a women’s magazine in Canada.
“Just because a sport is dominated by women doesn’t make it weak,” she has said.
Alexandra Orlando was born on January 19, 1987 in Toronto so her age is 21. Although, she stood ninth in the World Championships in September last year, it was enough to get her qualified for the Beijing Olympics. She’s been winning almost all the Canadian competitions since 2003. The high point of her career came when she won all the six rhythmic gymnastics events at the 2006 Commonwealth games in Australia.
Alexandra is of Italian origin and is one of the most beautiful gymnasts the world has seen. She is also the subject of a book written by Martin Avery. She is also in the news for writing two blogs during the games. You can find them here and here.
