Meet Charlotte Craig, a four-time Junior Olympic Taekwondo champion. She is on her way to the Beijing Olympics and will compete as a flyweight. See photos, video and a biography of Charlotte below.
As a biography, Charlotte Craig was born on February 2nd, 1991 in Riverside, California. She is 17 years old. She is 5’5″ and 97 pounds. She currently attends Murrieta Valley High School and will be a senior this fall.
She accompanied her father and older brother to their Taekwondo sessions at just 2 years of age. Three years later she was taking lessons.
She started competing at the Junior Olympics in 2000, where she won the bronze medal, and won it again in 2001. She took home the silver medal at the Junior Olympics in 2002. Over the next two years she did win gold medals at the Junior Olympics three times and twice at the U.S. Open.
In 2005, Craig won the gold at the Pan Am Junior Championships as well as at the U.S. Senior nationals.
She took home the gold again at the Junior Olympics in 2006 and placed second at the U.S. Open and U.S. Senior Nationals. That same year, at the World Junior Championships, she took home the Bronze.
She took 1st place at the 2007 Pan Am Games Trials as well as the Olympic Trials Phase 1.
In April, she clinched her spot on the Olympic team.
