Angela Park took the lead in the second round of the U.S. Women’s Open today, shooting a 6-under 67 and taking a one stroke lead over Mina Blomqvist. Rain in the afternoon ended up halting play for two and a half hours, but Park started in the morning, and wasn’t affected by the delay. Play was stopped at 9:47 P.M. due to darkness and will resume Saturday morning at 8:00 A.M.
As a biography, Angela Park was born on August 25, 1988. She is 19 years old. She was born in Iguassu, Brazil and is of Korean heritage. She moved with her family to Southern California when she was 8 years old. She was a successful amateur, reaching the semifinals of the USGA Women’s Amateur Championship in 2005. She turned pro in 2006.
Park was named LPGA Rookie of the Year in 2007. That same year, she tied for 2nd place at the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open.
She currently makes her home in Orlando, Florida.
