Shaquille O’Neal will no longer be a deputy in Arizona. Sheriff Joe Arpaio will strip the Phoenix Suns center of his badge because of his foul language and the use of a “racially derogatory word” during a freestyle rap last Saturday in which Shaq dissed former teammate Kobe Bryant. Check out the “Shaq Rap” video below.
The “Shaq Rap” video was posted by TMZ and was soon plastered all over the internet. Shaq has come under fire for the video, but he told ESPN:
“I was freestyling. That’s all. It was all done in fun. Nothing serious whatsoever.”
Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who outfits his inmates in pink underwear, makes them eat green bologna and houses them in tents, said that he wanted the badges returned. Arpaio had made Shaquille a special deputy back in January of 2006, and even promoted him to colonel a few weeks back.
Shaq was a reserve officer for the Miami Beach Police Department while he was with the Miami Heat. He has also volunteered for the Tempe Police Department shortly after his trade to the Phoenix Suns in February.
