Rookie Candace Parker of the Los Angeles Sparks dunked for the first time in her WNBA career and is only the second woman to do so, behind teammate Lisa Leslie. Check out the video below!
Candace’s one handed dunk wowed the crowd at the Staples Center yesterday, as the Sparks beat the Indiana Fever 77-63. Candace spoke of the dunk:
“Just trying not to miss,” Parker said of her approach on the dunk. “It’s exciting to do it in front of Los Angeles, at home and on the same basket that Lisa did it on.”
Immediately after the game, Candace boarded a plane in L.A. and headed to New York. This morning at a press conference, Candace was announced as the 2008 Honda-Broderick Cup winner at the Columbia University Low Memorial LIbrary in New York City. Candace is the second Lady Vol to win the award in 10 years – Chamique Holdsclaw was the recipient back in 1998.
