Meet Katie Burkhart, pitcher for the ASU softball team. See photos and a biography of Katie below.

The Arizona State University Sun Devils are just two wins away from taking the WCWS title, and pitcher Katie Burkhart wants to bring the win home to Tempe.

“It feels amazing. This is what we have worked so hard for all season and just dedicated ourselves to get here. To be here finally, this is where we want to be. It is a real honor to be here and see our work has paid off.”

The Devils will play Texas A & M this evening. Game 2 is scheduled tomorrow night, and if a third game is necessary, it will be played on Wednesday. Good Luck to Katie and the Sun Devils!

As a biography, Katie Burkhart was born on February 24, 1986. She attended San Luis Obispo High School and graduated in 2004. During her years at San Luis Obispo, she was named All-County MVP in 200 and 204, and received All-CIF honors twice. She was named Second Team in 2003 and in 2004 was named First Team.

Since her start at Arizona State University, Katie has amassed numerous pitching records and has been named PAC-10 Pitcher of the Week several times. She was named the PAC-10 Pitcher of the Year (a first for ASU), and USA Player of the Week (a first for ASU as well). She was a Honda Award Nominee, and was on the gold medal winning USA University Team in 2006.

Let’s hope Katie can add a WCWS title to her resume…
