Kaitlin Young is scheduled to fight the undefeated Gina Carano in an MMA bout that’s been added to the EliteXC‘s first show on CBS. Some people have been surprised at the choice of Kaitlin Young as an opponent for Carano in this bout because, simply put, Kaitlin kicks ass. Rumors had been that she would have an easier opponent for the premier of EliteXC. The Saturday night fights premier on CBS on May 31st.

Kaitlin Young was born on September 15, 1985. She is a 22-year-old student at the University of Minnesota majoring in Kinesiology with an emphasis on exercise physiology. She had been an Amateur Muay Thai fighter until she started Mixed Martial Arts in June 2007. She trains at the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy and Athletic Performance Inc. in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. Her record is 4-1. She has won all of her fights by knock out.

Kaitlin is 5′ 9″ tall and weights 135 pounds. She is the 2007 Women’s HookNShoot Tournament Champion and BodogFIGHT Trounament Champion. She fights in the Bamtamweight class and her specialties are Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, combat submission wrestling, kickboxing, mixed martial arts, muay thai and tae kwon do.

She says her favorite things, aside from fighting, are training, studying and hanging out with her boyfriend and their dog.
