According to several reports and a little sneak peek thanks to a video posted on You Tube, Matthew Broderick, aka Ferris Bueller, will appear in a Super Bowl ad on Sunday, February 5th. I can’t wait to see what this commercial is about, and we have the teaser video below!
Okay, if you’re like me, did high school in the 80’s, then you know all about Ferris Bueller. Sadly, they just don’t make movies like that anymore, do they? “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” is in my Top 10 favorites of flicks from the 80’s. I’ve watched them over and over, never tire of it and wax nostalgic of a time near and dear to my heart.
So what’s this rumor that Ferris Bueller is making a return after 26 years? Is there a sequel coming our way? I’m crossing my fingers that that’s the case. But, it looks like we’ll have to wait for a reboot because according to the New York Daily News via car blog Jalopnik, Broderick filmed a commercial for Honda, which will air during the Super Bowl. Apparently big bucks were spent on the making of the ad, even securing director/writer Todd Phillips (of “Hangover” fame) to put it together.
The 10 second clip that’s been circulating around the web since it was uploaded yesterday already has over 1 million views. The spot features a robe wearing Broderick opening some curtains and saying into the camera, “How can I handle work on a day like today?”. The line is similar to the one he said in FBDO, “How can I possibly be expected to handle school on a day like this?”. Then it fades to the date 2.5.12 (the Super Bowl, of course), and Yello’s song “Oh Yeah” (which was heard during the movie’s credits at the end of the film).
So Ferris Bueller drives a Honda? Here’s the teaser clip below.
