The 2012 NFL Pro Bowl is set for this Sunday at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, but let’s be honest here folks. How many of you will actually tune in to watch? I hate to say it, but the Pro Bowls are bo-ring! So I guess in an effort to get fans excited, players will be able to Tweet during the game. Um, okay.
I find it kinda funny, what about you? Brian McCarthy, a spokesman for the NFL, said:
“This is an innovative way to further engage our fans who have an insatiable appetite for football. NFL players have been very active on social media and enjoying talking to fans. The nature of the Pro Bowl enables us to have players tweet during the game.”
Players will not be allowed to use their cell phones to Tweet, instead a couple of computers per sideline will be made available for players to log into their Twitter account and reach out to their followers. Perhaps if I got a shout out from Arizona Cardinals player Larry Fitzgerald during the game then, yes, I would be excited, but otherwise this news is just meh to me. How about you guys? What are your thoughts?
Mike McCarthy and the coaches from the Green Bay Packers head up the NFC team and the AFC team will be led by Gary Kubiak and his Houston Texans coaching staff.
According to a press release by NBC, five quarterbacks will don mics during the game – Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger, Cam Newton and Phillip Rivers. Oh, Ray Lewis will be mic’d up too. That should prove to be interesting, eh?
Anyways, you can catch the game this Sunday on NBC, airing live at 7:00 pm EST. Who do you think will win? My bet’s on the NFC.
