Jillian Michaels is the January cover girl for SELF Magazine, and the former “Biggest Loser” trainer talks resolutions, weight loss and exercise! Find out what she had to say, plus more, below.
It’s a New Year and you know what that means. Resolutions. Lots of them. Eat better, exercise more, yada yada yada. Those are my resolutions every single year. Some years I’m successful, others not so much. As I get older it gets harder and harder to actually stick to a sound diet plan and etch away some time to exercise. I give the typical excuses, much like everyone else. No time. I’m tired. Blah. Blah. Blah. Does the incredibly fit Michaels have any resolutions of her own?
“I’m not really a resolution type of person because I think that any day is an opportunity to change your life. So I don’t really look for a period of time where I go “oh yes, this is what I’m going to change.” Whenever I realize that I am unhappy with something or I’m off course and I need to make a quick course correction, I can do that whether it’s January or June. But the reality is that it is a new year and you want to be thinking about, what you are going to change or how you are going to evolve. January really lends itself to that—what’s that next evolution of self.”
Of course we all know the key to losing weight is simply eating right. She goes on to say, “we know what’s bad for us and what isn’t”. Sigh. Sometimes it’s easier said than done. Sure, I know what’s bad for me, like that ice cream sundae I had the other day or gasp…two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun. Yep, the Big M. Certainly Jillian is shuddering right about now. Alas, I have decided that this will be the year of eating right and exercising more! Wish me luck, guys. I’m gonna need it.
