Tiger Woods has lost one of his long sponsors Tag Heuer, what went wrong? His personal scandals still haunting the famous golfer or his poor play is just not that attractive to the famous brand? Let’s find out!
Tiger Woods’ luxurious and millionaire ties with the Swiss brand Tag Heuer started a little more than six years ago when Tiger collaborated with them in the creation of the first Golf watch, simply known as TAG Heuer Professional Golf Watch. This watch granted Tag Heuer their first of two iF product design awards, their second came the following year in 2007 with their Monaco Calibre 360 LS Concept Chronograph.
After 2006, Tiger was seen in many of their advertising campaigns all over, but that was clearly in jeopardy after Tiger’s alleged affairs with “the 12 mistresses” that ultimately became the reason for his ex-wife and mother of his two children Sam and Charlie, Elin Nordegren, to file for divorce last year. Tiger and Elin’s divorce was finalized in August 2010.
I guess from November 2009 until this day that gray cloud is still hovering over him, scandal after scandal, his personal life was weighing on his professional life and his sponsors were not going to sink with him. They left him one by one, terminating their multi-million dollar endorsements. First Accenture, then Gillette, Gatorade, Golf Digest, AT&T and now Tag Heuer, the reason??? So far his agent just said that their relationship had expired.
Tiger announced he wouldn’t be playing due to an injury, but just last week he was making his comeback onto the golf course, with a new caddie. Just recently he finished the Bridgestone Invitational in the middle of the pack in an up and down kind of way. Will he get back in shape?
