Ron Artest: Dancing With The Stars Contestant?

July 27, 2011

Latest buzz regarding Ron Artest…Dancing With The Stars and the Los Angeles Lakers forward are reportedly in talks for the basketball player to appear in the next installment of the popular reality dance competition. Hmm, will his fancy footwork on the court move onto the dance floor?

Season 13 will premiere on September 19th and a new cast will be revealed some time later this summer. Ron Artest and the Dancing With The Stars producers reportedly have been speaking with each other to somehow make this a done deal. There may be a little glitch in all of this though. The NBA lockout could end earlier than expected and that means Artest will have to report for work. Pre-season will start October 9th and the first game of the season for the Lakers is scheduled for November 1st. The finale of the dancing competition will fall some time in November, so clearly a definite overlap there. I don’t see how this will work, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

Artest is said to be ‘very excited’ about showing everyone his dance moves, if he has any. He may surprise everyone though, as several athletes have had success on the show. Most recently Hines Ward, who along with his dance partner Kym Johnson, won the mirror ball trophy in May.

Meanwhile, we’ll have to wait till August 26th to find out the status of Artest’s name change, you may remember that he filed paperwork in Los Angeles last month to change his name to ‘Metta World Peace’, citing personal reasons for doing so. Okay really? What would the back of his jersey read? Peace? World Peace? Heh heh.

What do you think of Ron Artest on Dancing With The Stars? Will he do well or bomb? Leave me your thoughts below!

i think that Artest is likely looking for some extra attention, remember he fights fans, raps, and now dancing!!!
Sure it could seem as if he would like to be multi talented, I personally as a great fan of the show and NBA think that that the show could find a more dedicated and more talented dancer that won’t possibly make a joke of the show.

P.S. no offense to you Mr.Artest
