Yes, we can all breathe a sigh of relief. The NFL Lockout is over! It’s been a long four months, but just like Roger Goodell said at a press conference earlier today — “football is back.” Yeah baby!

The player reps from all 32 NFL teams unanimously voted to approve the final deal on Monday, putting an end to the longest lockout in NFL history. All 1900 players must vote to make it official.

DeMaurice Smith, head of the NFLPA (National Football League Player’s Association), said this morning:

“We didn’t get everything that either side wanted … but we did arrive at a deal that we think is fair and balanced. I know it has been a very long process since the day we stood here that night in March,” Smith said. “But our guys stood together when nobody thought we would. And football is back because of it.”

What a relief to have my favorite sport back in business! Several players took to Twitter this morning:

From my hometown team, the Arizona Cardinals:
Larry Fitzgerald (@LarryFitzgerald) – “Hey Laaaa hey Laaaa my girlfriend’s (Football) back”
Calais Campbell (@Campbell93) – “Back to work! Time to win this division #birdgang #nfcwest camps…let’s go”
Steve Breaston (@SBreaston15) – “they say in the agreement I will be able to get free breadsticks with my 2 large pizzas #conferencecall”
Kerry Rhodes (@KerryRhodes) – “New league year to start on my bday Aug. 2nd? I knew that day was special even tho ill be old at least something good happens lol”

And from other players around the league:

Torrey Smith (@TorreySmithWR) – “To all of my fellow rookies…it’s time to live the dream….lets work”
Garrett Hartley (@GHartley5) – “I’m excited that the wait and anticipation is over and we will be back to work tomorrow. Much love for our reps ironing out the details”
Donte Stallworth (@DonteStallworth) – “Democrats and Republicans can learn something from the players and owners. Yes, we have our differences. #ButWeWorkedItOut #NowItsYourTurn”

It’s going to be a crazy week ahead. Training camps begin on Wednesday for 10 teams, then 10 more teams will open camp on Thursday, another 10 on Friday. The Houston Texans and the New York Jets will start their camps on Sunday. Let’s not forget about the rookies that need to be signed in addition to the free agents. Just where will T.O. go? Heh heh.

Are you ready for some football? Let the fantasy football planning begin!!
