The 2011 24 hours of Le Mans in Le Mans, France was filed with adrenaline, great car racers, beautiful people and not one shocking car crash but two, impressive, two shocking crashes where the drivers miraculously walked out of their cars these guys were Allan McNish and Mike Rockenfeller, more than enough reason to consider these crashes our pick for shocking video of the week, check it out!
This 2011 24 Hours of Le Mans was not a good year for the Audi Sport Team as 41 year-old Allan McNish, the famous Scottish racer of the Audi R18 TDI Coupe was involved is a scary crash. It all happened when McNish was driving at approximately 200 miles per hour and collided with a Ferrari 458 driven by the French racer Anthony Beltoise, the Ferrari was just getting his speed back after exiting the pits area, Allan was sent spinning around to the left side of the track until he hit the security wall pretty badly. The pieces of metal flew away and it seemed like the cars were made of carton. His team put their hands on their heads and prepared for the worst but thank God their driver was safely taken out of the car, in fact he walked out himself. Oh wow what a scary and emotional moment at the same time.
The second scary car crash at the took place at nightfall, 27 year-old German car racer Mike Rockenfeller also known as Rocky, as you might remember Mike was the 2008 Le Mans champion. In 2011 he was involved in a one car accident, and ended up in the barrier. I guess he got disoriented. Unlike Allan, Mike suffered minor injuries on his arm and he had to stay in the hospital that night for further observations.
