Many are wondering what the answer is to the question that’s been swirling for days – is Plaxico Burress Jets bound? There are other teams that are reportedly interested in the jailed player as well. Find out all the details here!
Burress is scheduled to be released from prison in the early part of June, but what does the receiver have to offer after being holed up in prison for almost two years?
And of course, the NFL lockout still lingers on. No doubt that he needs to get himself to a training camp ASAP. When he left football he was at the top of his game, the Super Bowl hero. Yeah, we all remember that catch. At almost two years behind bars, a veteran player at his level is still out of practice, obviously. Can he once again be the caliber player he once was? Being out a couple seasons will undoubtedly be difficult for him to play at the level of competitiveness in the NFL.
As I mentioned earlier, there are several other teams who may be interested in the 33-year-old free agent. We can’t completely rule out the New York Giants, but in addition to the Jets, there are rumors that the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins, Philadelphia Eagles, St. Louis Rams and the Chicago Bears all find Burress appealing.
Giants GM Jerry Reese said they will ‘keep their options open’ in regards to Plax. His wife, Tiffany, said recently:
“I love the Giants. I just want to see him happy. Wherever he wants to go, I’ll just support that 100 percent.”
He deserves the opportunity to return to the Giants. I mean, it’s not like he did harm to any dogs, right? He made a mistake and did the time. Many Giants fans would love to see him wearing that #17 jersey again. Unfortunately we’ll just have to wait and see how this whole thing plays out.
