The bout that everybody was waiting for was finally here, Manny Pacquiao vs. Sugar Shane Mosley from Las Vegas, find out what were the highlights of this fight, plus find out who won this bout and of course a video of the Pacquiao vs. Mosley fight highlights all in the story below.
Before these amazing boxers entered the ring, the National Anthems were sung, first the Philippine National Anthem performed by a Filipino singer and then the National Anthem of the United States performed by Tyrese Gibson. We also saw performances by LL Cool J and Jamie Fox who sang America the Beautiful. Then it was the time for the announcer to present each boxer, first it was the turn of 39 year-old Mosley, standing at 5’9″ with a reach of 188 cms and holding a record of 54 fights 44 wins and 6 loses, then it was 32 year-old Manny’s turn at 5’6″, a reach of 170 cms and with an impressive record of 57 fights 52 wins and 3 losses. And here we go!
The first three rounds we saw Pacquiao faster, with more deadly shots to Mosley’s jaw that even sent him to the floor twice during round 2 and again in round 3, I couldn’t help to notice that in the first round both boxers threw punches as to get familiar with their own techniques, Manny used his 1-2 on Mosley more than twice with good results, Mosley missed several hits.
In the next three rounds Manny sent low shots while Shane fired back with a deadly combination, but the fourth round was to Manny, the fifth round a little more active Sugar with more combinations, this was perhaps Shane’ best round but he looked tired and swelling on his eyes during the sixth round would take its toll on him.
The seventh round we saw Mosley visibly exhausted, his mouth is open for heaven’s sake, and Manny’s 1-2 combination on his jaw might end this any time. The crowd shouted Shane’s name during the 8th round, he responded to his fans with two powerful hooks on Manny. I can’t figure Shane out, he looks tired but he keeps fighting but mostly Manny he is totally dominating every round, why doesn’t he put an end to this? Oh well let’s continue. Shane sent Manny to the floor on the 10th round but It seemed to me that he pushed him more than he knocked him down, Manny was on his feet seconds later sending a hard left punch.
At this point in the 11th round the crowd is no longer screaming Shane’s name but Manny! Manny! and they seemed angry or perhaps disappointed and Manny took the opportunity to send deadly low hits and Mosley is in pain. He didn’t have a chance to recover when Pacman’s combo was on his head this time, Oh My God Mosley’s entire face is pretty swollen, he is on the ropes and received Manny’s left hook oh that gotta hurt! He couldn’t defend himself but merely running from Manny who is chasing him, sounds funny and it is a little, end of the round.
The boxers prepare to hear the judges’ scores and verdict with 119-108, 120-108 and 120-107 by unanimous decision the winner of this bout is… Manny Pacquiao!!!! Manny wore his welterweight champion belt crossed over his chest and his team surrounded him with big smiles. Well Done Manny!!
