Sad news to report out of Louisiana, a car accident in Addis over the weekend has left Ann Browne dead, the sister of Louisiana State University head football coach Les Miles.
The car accident occurred Friday afternoon about 10 miles outside of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, when the vehicle she was driving, a 2007 Nissan Sentra, was hit by a truck.
She worked for a home security system company and was in a neighborhood off of Sugar Mill Plantation Parkway to meet with a customer. She left the subdivision around 12:30 PM, and while trying to enter traffic onto La. 1, A Dodge Ram pickup made contact with her on the driver’s side. According to 2theadvocate.com, there were six passengers in the truck, two adults and four children (ages unavailable), but no one sustained any injuries. As a precautionary measure, they were sent to the hospital with the exception of the truck’s driver, who stayed to speak with police. Unfortunately, Browne was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Chief Investigator at the West Baton Rouge Parish coroner’s office, Yancy Guerin. There were no passengers in her vehicle.
An anonymous comment was left on the 2theadvocate.com story, which sadly states that this accident could have been averted:
“I live in this neighborhood and we have been asking for a red light at this intersection but we keep getting pushed to the side. It is really sad that this could have been prevented with a simple red light.”
Michael Bonnette, Louisiana State University information director, has stated that the university will not comment on the accident.
Browne was 54 years old at the time of her death. We have searched to find any info about Browne, but particulars regarding the younger sister of Miles is scant. Details concerning the funeral services of Browne are at this time unavailable, but as soon as that is reported, we will update this post. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Miles family as they go through this very difficult time in their lives. Please feel free to leave your condolences in the comments section below.
