Miami Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall has reportedly been released from the hospital after being stabbed with a knife by his wife, Michi Nogami-Marshall Friday night. More details below.
In what police are calling a ‘domestic-violence incident’, Marshall’s wife, Michi Nogami-Marshall, sits in jail on a $7500 bond after being charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. According to reports, she told authorities that she was acting in self-defense.
There are conflicting reports as far as what Brandon originally told police what went down last night. He allegedly said that a vase was thrown at him or that he had slipped and fallen on a vase that was broken. It wasn’t until Brandon was at Broward General Hospital that docs found that he was actually stabbed. He had emergency stomach surgery and is lucky that the puncture wounds did not hit any organs. Even more amazing that he has already been released from the hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery in a few weeks.
The Dolphins organization did release a statement this morning regarding the incident:
“We are aware of the report, and our thoughts are with Brandon at this time. We will look into the matter. But because we are not allowed to have any contact with any of our players (because of the NFL lockout), we will refrain from making any further comment.”
Back in 2009, both Brandon and Michi were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. According to an Atlanta police report, they were seen ‘kicking and punching each other on the sidewalk’, but nothing came of the incident, as the charges were later dropped.
We all know that Brandon has had his own fair share of run ins with the law. Darrent Williams, 2007. Remember that? Now this. Nogami-Marshall, whom he married in July of 2010, claims that she was defending herself. How do you think this will play out? Leave me your thoughts below.
