32 year-old Crystal Gail Mangum from North Carolina was the student at North Carolina Central University who worked as a stripper. She was hired along with her co-worker Kim Roberts to strip at a party at an off-campus house at Duke where two Lacrosse captains lived, she was 27 at that time.
It was at that party that Crystal falsely accused three lacrosse players of raping and beating her for several minutes, but after a long investigation, DNA tests and the fact that she kept changing her story, the files were later dropped.
That Duke Lacrosse case is way too long to tell you about it and you know it pretty well, after it became a viral topic a few years ago, today however we found her name once again only this time she is not the alleged victim but the defendant in an ugly case where she might face murder charges for stabbing her boyfriend Reginald Daye.
According to police records, Crystal stabbed her 42 year-old beau and died after two weeks at Duke University Hospital. Ms. Mangum has three children who were living with Crystal’s mother until they moved back with their mother and Daye, who according to sources close to him, they were not romantically related, but he was helping her get back on track. It was a nephew of Mr. Reginald who made the 911 call and told them Mangum allegedly stabbed his uncle; police found her in an apartment close to her boyfriend where he was found wounded with a kitchen knife, apparently after an argument between both parties. Mangum was arrested in the first days of April after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend in the stomach, she was charged with arson and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. She has been in jail since April 3rd with a $300,000 bond. After Reginald died she might face murder charges.
Ms. Mangum has a long history of police trouble that started in 1996, she told police she had been allegedly kidnapped and raped in 1993 by three men, in 2002 she was arrested for allegedly stealing a cab from her work, she also allegedly stole a patron’s credit card. In February 2010 she was living with her boyfriend at that time, but they got into an argument, ultimately she locked herself in the bathroom and allegedly burned his clothes. Her daughter called 911, she was arrested and sentenced to 80 days in jail. People close to her even her mother said she graduated from NCCU with a degree in police psychology. In May 2008 she wrote a memoir book where she continued to claim she was raped, but hoped her book would help other women that have been through the same difficulties she had.
