Amanda Lucas is the eldest adoptive daughter of Stars Wars director George Lucas. She, along with her siblings, have appeared in her father’s movies and she also happens to be a former MMA fighter . After a long break from fighting she has decided to return to the MMA, and this is how our story goes, so keep on reading!
For some of you who are not that familiar with Amanda Lucas, we are going to tell you that her father is the amazing Star Wars director among other great movies, her mother, another film director is Marcia Lou Griffin. Her parents adopted her in 1981, the same year she was born, her parents divorced two year later. She has two younger siblings, sister Katie (23) and Jett (18).
Amanda, like her sister and brother, have appeared in minor roles in the last Stars Wars movies, I (she did the voice of Tey How and Diva Funquita), II (she was Adnama which by the way is her name backwards), III (Terr Taneel who was a senator in galactic city).
How did she get into Mixed Martial Arts? She got there because her boyfriend was into it and soon he got her into the sport, Amanda made her debut at age 27 in May 2008 vs. Nicole Kavanah (she lost by KO in the 3rd round). She is a purple belt Jiu Jitsu (with Jake Shields), a Muay Thai expert and trains with Ganyao Fairtex and Gilbert Menencez. The last fight she had was back in November 2009, against Christen Bedwell (at Freestyle Cage Fighting 37 where she won in the 3rd round by UD), because she was getting married and wanted to look her best. A black eye and a swollen bloody lip doesn’t look pretty on a bride, right?
Today a married 30 year-old Amanda has decided to come back to MMA fighting, the sport that she loves so much. She was due to return in February but an injury delayed her comeback.
“I am really excited for this fight, I was originally scheduled to fight in February, but I suffered a partially torn MCL and PCL during my training camp. I have basically been either training or rehabbing my knee for the past six months. I am looking forward to fighting, taking a week off, and then getting back into the gym. I am in great shape, well prepared and am ready to test myself on Saturday.”
Don’t miss Amanda Lucas’ great comeback to MMA this Saturday, April 9th against Heather Martin at Freestyle Cage Fighting 46 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Share your thoughts and/or send a message to Amanda in our comments section below!
