March 13, 2011

Malaysia’s professional Badminton player Lee Chong Wei made it to the Finals at the All England Badminton event and defeated Lin Dan from China. Check out the game recap, updates and his exciting video after the jump.

Lee Chong Wei

2011 has been a pretty good year so far for this 28 year old badminton player from Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia. Just this past January he won his seventh Malaysia Open defeating Indonesia’s Taufik Hidayat, his first was back in 2004 against Park Sung-Hwan.

The National Outdoors Arena at Birmingham, England was the place where Lee Chong Wei defeated the people’s favorite Lin Dan who came to the final after defeating Germany’s Marc Zwiebler on Saturday while Lee defeated China’s 22 year old Chen Long (21-17, 21-13).

Lin seemed very confident and sure he was going to walk out with his fifth victory, but Lee was ready for him and was not going to go soft on him, if was going to lose it will be after killing himself on that court, little did he know things would look so much better for him. This match was going to be “the Match” or the century or at least of the Easter season?

And so it was in a sort of a clash of the Titans in badminton, World’s number 1 vs. World’s number 3. Lee was the defending champion and after his precise and quick strokes he is today still the champion who managed to keep his All England crown, and I must say that the king is very pleased with his performance. See how happy he looks in the picture right here.

“It’s very satisfying, I played safe this time, from point to point.”

Hopefully now he can get a makeover, he might be the king but dude that hair is so last season! Although I think I saw his spiky haircut on a gorgeous model at Jean-Charles de Castelbajac ‘s Fall/Winter 2011 show at Paris Fashion Week????

Some said this was going to be payback time after he lost to Chong Wei, in 2009 he won the All England crown and the 2006 Swiss Open and Olympic Games and perhaps also when he defeated him at the 2007 Hong Kong Open or at the 2006 Chinese Taipei Open, Macau and Hong Kong Open, Oh! I see now why this was going to be sweet revenge, oh well better luck next time because now Lee is the King!!

Check out their match in the video below and tell us what you think!
