Have you ever met Dale Earnhardt’s grandson? His name is Jeffrey Earnhardt. Although we haven’t heard much of him, surprising because of his family legacy, he has really called our attention and interest this year and Daytona has their eyes on the young racer. Check out the rest of our story to know more about him from his biography, see the photos and video provided after the jump.
Jeffrey’s great grand parents were Martha and the late Ralph Earnhardt, his grandfather was the amazing NASCAR legend who died tragically in 2001 at age 49. His grandmother Lalate Brown gave birth to his father Kerry in 1969, they divorced a year later and his grandfather went on to marry two more times. From those marriages he was three aunts and uncles, Ralph Dale Jr, Kelley King and Nicole Taylor who is 22 years old. Jeffrey was born on June 22nd, 1989 in Mooreville, North Carolina. He has an older brother Bobby and younger sister Kayla from his father’s second marriage.
His family’s last name has a heavy weight on his shoulders, there have been times when the weight has been too much to handle and others where it has helped him become what he is and people expect him to be, but putting aside the Earnhardt name there is the truth that Jeffrey has talent, passion and determination to win and be the best racer on the track. Just this month he is competing to win at the NASCAR Rookie of the Year Camping World Truck Series, he has hired the winner of the prestigious NAPA 500 and ex- Nextel Sprint Cup Series driver Jerry Nadeau as his coach.
Rookie of the year is a title that he has already earned back in his beginning in racing, when he competed in Virginia in the Hornet Division. In 2007 he started racing at the NASCAR Busch East Series where he competed for Andy Santerre Motorsports, finished 5th and won the Series Most Popular Driver award. Jeffrey is racing as part of Rick Ware Racing Team at the Grand-Am Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in 2011 driving Ware’s No. 1 Fuel Doctor Chevrolet Silverado.
Jeffrey has had a history of being a troubled boy an uninterested a rebel teenage boy who loved to party, you must remember when Aric Almirola replaced him at the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, apparently young Earnhardt didn’t show up to work for nearly a week although that action was criticized by media who accused Earnhardt Inc of turning their backs on Jeffrey, even more when the same happened the following year and they replaced him with Ryan Truex.
There were times in his teenage years where Police paid him a visit at his home when he was allegedly partying, everybody had the idea he just didn’t care because of who he was. Luckily those days are in the past and a new path has been settled in his life. Daytona, who are already impressed by his performance, is looking forward for the young racer to show us what he’s got on the race track, we are sure he will.
