It was, without a doubt, an impressive season for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick. While he did not make it to the Super Bowl, things are starting to look up endorsement wise for the former prisoner. He is now the Unequal Technologies spokesman, signing a two year deal with the company. Get all the details here!
Who are Unequal Technologies and what do they do? They manufacture sports equipment along with footwear that absorb shock. Vick is no stranger to their products, as he wore the company’s shoulder and thigh pads after coming back from an injury to his ribs in November.
“We’re real excited about it,” Unequal chief Rob Vito said. “Michael is good people. He paid his dues. President Obama reached out to him. He deserves an opportunity. This is what makes America so great. He’s moved forward. He’s a whole other person.”
Particulars of the contract have not been made known. An official announcement reportedly will be made Thursday. I am curious as to how much Vick stands to make from this deal, but reports suggest it’s not some major dough. At the height of his career, he was one of the top NFL money makers when it came to endorsements – pitching for the big names, notably Nike and Gatorade, just to name a few. They would all sever their ties with him following his arrest and conviction on charges related to him running a dog fighting ring back in 2007. He was incarcerated for 21 months.
What does Vick have to say about his new gig? According to a statement released by the Eagles QB:
“The Unequal technology is a part of my game now and I won’t play without my Unequal. Unequal’s protective power gives me a whole new level of confidence in my game. It makes me feel invincible.”
What do you think about Vick’s new job as the Unequal Technologies spokesman? Has he paid his dues? Certainly we all know what Animal Rights activists think of Michael Vick. The NFL gave him a second chance, right? Leave me your thoughts, let’s discuss! A related video can be seen below.
