Meet Ilham Vuilloud. She is Stanislas Wawrinka’s wife at least for now since the couple just announced their split. Do you know why? Do they have any children? When did they get married? Where did they meet? Who really is Mrs. Vuilloud? Find that out in our story below.
Ilham Vuilloud’s husband is the 25 year old tennis player from Saint-Barthélemy, Switzerland. We all know his greatest rival is Rafael Nadal, his closest friends are Andy Murray and fellow Swiss player Roger Federer, with whom he has paired up with once in a while. Speaking of which, he did just lose to Federer at the Australian Open yesterday. He made headlines earlier this month when the end of his marriage was announced to the world, sources rumored that he left Ilham and their little daughter to focus on his career, can that be real? Who is his wife?
Our girl Ilham is 36 years old and a well known name in Switzerland, not because of her famous tennis husband, but because of herself. She used to be a model and a presenter at a local television show until she tied the knot at the Lausanne Palace Hotel in Switzerland on December 15, 2009, about four years after they started dating. You must remember that media reported the news but added that Ilham was way too pregnant or heavily pregnant, well yes she was! Just two months after their big day her baby girl Alexia was born on February 12, 2010. A joyous day that morning was, little Alexia arrived at about 9:50 a.m. weighing 7 pounds 9 ounces and her height was 50 cms.
Nearly a year to their one year anniversary, media reported that Ilham and her husband had allegedly separated. What was the reason? Did he abandon them? Well, this is what he said:
“I have separated from my wife. We want our role as parents to continue. We ask the press, our privacy be respected at this difficult time,” the Wawrinka management said in a statement.
But then it was she who spoke to the media and told of the events that happened the day of their split.
“Stan returned on September 20 after the Davis Cup in Kazakhstan and told me he had new priorities. He packed his bags and moved into a hotel. There would have been another solution, if he had spoken to me about.”
Really sad to hear that they separated due to tennis, many athletes find a way to handle both and they many have successful careers. Do you think they will get back together? Hopefully! What do you think of Ilham Vuilloud? If you were Stanislas Wawrinka’s wife, would you take him back?
