The Dallas Mavericks ended their six-game losing streak with a resounding win over the LA Lakers last night. Coming back strongly in the fourth, the Mavs took the win 109-100 after leading by as much as 16. Get the full story, plus pictures and video below!
Breaking out of an awful shooting slump, Jason Kidd went 8-12 and scored a season high 21 points, helping bring his team back from an 8 point deficit in the third. But it was reserves Jason Terry and Shawn Marion scoring 22 points apiece that sealed the deal!
The Dallas Mavericks were glad to have Kidd back on form to beat the LA Lakers. Kidd has been struggling all season with his three point shot, but finally found his shot last night.
“I came in this league (as not the best shooter), so right now I’m going through a little shooting mentality. Tonight the ball was going in,” Kidd told reporters.
Phil Jackson said after the game that a lack of scoring wasn’t the problem for his team, but they just couldn’t stop the Mav’s attack.
“It was a lack of defense,” Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. “They had so many open shots and they started making them. They had that third quarter that got us on our heels.”
Bryant scored 21 points and added 10 assists for his team while Gasol scored 23 and Odom another 20, but it wouldn’t be enough to tip the balances in the two time champ’s favor. The upset also featured an interesting side story between the two teams coaches. Just recently Mark Cuban made headlines for calling LA Coach Phil Jackson a boy-toy on Twitter. Up next the Mavs take on the 28-14 Bulls while the Lakers take on 24-17 Denver.
