Julia Williams’ son hit the news early this week when he was discovered by the Cavaliers and his magical voice granted him a job opportunity (2 year contract as an announcer), no wait three jobs opportunities, Kraft made him the new voice of their Kraft Macaroni & Cheese and a promo for MSNBC (“Lean Forward”). He called this rain of blessing a second opportunity in life, and he is absolutely right, you do know a little about Julia’s 53 year old son’s life? Let’s sum it up a bit!

There was a time when he was a happily married man, father of nine sons and daughters, a former military veteran and radio announcer, after he became a homeless man several years ago he had to fight his demons – drugs, alcohol and several arrests drowned him more and more in misery and loneliness, but he hit bottom and decided to change his life or he will lose it. He has been a sober man living in a tent in Ohio, that was until his golden voice took him to Youtube and subsequently national television.

As he kept telling his story he also revealed that he hasn’t seen his 90 year old mother Julia Williams in more than 10 years, she resides in Brooklyn, New York thinking of the son who kept promising her to get his twisted lifestyle on the right track, but he never kept those promises, that guilt sent her son away from her, he was too ashamed to face her, disappointed her and keep on causing her pain, so he disappeared.

When NBC and CBS found out about his story and the fact that he and Julia haven’t seen each other they started to move their strings and make the reunion possible, not joining hands that is but on the contrary they started a war between who will get the exclusive story.

Sources said CBS had the opportunity first to do the interview, but NBC put him on a plane from Ohio to New York on Wednesday and onto the Today Show the following day, now the confusing and even bugging part is the war of versions between the two Networks.

On this side we have CBS taking Julia Williams from her home in Brooklyn to the Airport where she would see her son, when allegedly NBC hurried him into a van and avoid the reunion.

“We had to tell the mother she wouldn’t be reunited with her son,” said a CBS rep.

On the other side we have NBC saying they didn’t even know Mrs. Williams was at the airport adding that all of the statements made by CBS against them were all lies.

“We didn’t know his mom was at the airport,” NBC source said about CBS’ declarations.

CBS would have her as a guest on their Early Show, here comes the next kick according to NBC’s sources, they said that if CBS really wanted to reunite mother and son they would take her to the Today show after her appearance on the Early Show, instead they didn’t and didn’t even pass her phone calls from her son who kept calling CBS requesting to talk to her.

“All day long we have been trying to do the right thing for Ted Williams and his mother because we wanted to give them the privacy and respect they deserve. However we can no longer stay silent because NBC’s account of what happened is a complete fabrication. When NBC learned of our intentions to bring Julia to the airport to meet her son they told us that they would not let them reunite even if it meant keeping Ted and Julia apart for days and that the reunion had to happen live on their show and that’s exactly what they did. They snuck him off the plane into a van and away from the airport in order to avoid his mother. NBC is spreading malicious lies because they got scooped with Ted and they got scooped with Julia. They should get over it.”

And now it is CBS’ turn to strike back, after a tedious battle for the rights of their reunion they came to an agreement to film it together but according to CBS, NBC didn’t commit to their part of their deal when they sent an on-line shoot of mother and son’s reunion after they have agreed to do it in conjunction with them.

After all the annoying chit-chat between the networks, Julia finally had a chance to hug her son after so many years. These are some of the words both expressed after their emotional reunion.

“Hi mommy, Hi Mommy. You always told me to pray, and I’ve been praying, mommy. God did this, mommy. I was praying that my mother was staying around long enough to see me.”

God has answered my prayer, God has answered my prayer. I prayed that I would live to see this time when he would do well. This will be my day to see my son get up and do something to help himself, He has so much talent. I hope this will be the thing for him. He came from a nice family. And then he went poor, poor. So, maybe this will build him up and let him see that there’s more in life than hanging around with the wrong people, and taking drugs. Prayer is the only thing that has helped me through this” Julia said “please don’t disappoint me.” She told her son.

“The dream finally came true. Thank You, Jesus,”

OMG! this truly was a great moment in their lives, It was so overwhelming to hear about their story, Was it the same for you? Would you like to send them a message? Check out the videos of their reunion and interviews below.
