After the latest hot trend of updating profile pictures with old cartoon characters, social network junkies wasted no time in inventing the Facebook Number Status Game. Find out how to play, plus see pictures and video on the story below!

This new game was actually pilfered from rival socializing network Twitter. Basically, the idea is to assign friends a number and communicate via statue updates.

According to Facebook, the number status games is basically played like this:

“The Number Game is a fun, interactive game that you can play with your Facebook friends! Here is how it works: Facebook users can ask their friends what they think about them by supplying them with a number. The friend then gives the answer and attaches the number to their answer for identification purposes.”

So, it’s a way of finding out what a friend thinks about you via a public forum, but without letting anyone else know who they’re talking about. In order to play the game, just send a private message to a friend with a randomly selected number in it. The most popular numbers are 0,1,42, 420, and 69, mostly due to their subtext, so try and pick something original. If your friend hasn’t used that number yet, they will then update their status with a personal message to you, along with your number. That way, no one will know who it is addressed to outside of you and your friend. Pretty clever idea!

For those who think the social networking scene is too impersonal, this certainly won’t help the matter. However, I can definitely see this new game filling a need in the market, especially for the younger crowd! What do you think of the Facebook Number Status Game? Fun? Or did you prefer the cartoon picture game? Check out the pictures and video below (be careful- it has some adult language) and let me know your thoughts in the comment section!
