Katarina Witt’s farewell tour is underway These photos are of her skating in several different shows in Europe as part of that tour. She is the only figure skater and one of only a handful of athletes to ever win two consecutive Olympic Gold Medals. She won Olympic Gold in 1984 and 1988. She is a two-time Olympic Champion, four-time World Champion and six-time European Champion. She also was the first German to win the Jim Thorpe Pro Sports Award. Katarina Witt is the most successful figure skater of all time.
Katarina has spent thirty years training and performing on the ice and even at 42 is in top physical form. She’s sexy, beautiful, talented, confident and charming. She was born on December 3rd, 1965, in Staaken, East Germany and was drawn to figure skating at a very early age. Her talent was noticed by one of the most respected East German coaches when she was about nine years old. From that point on she was unstoppable.
Last October, Katarina announced she’d be hanging up her skates following a farewell tour in the Spring of 2008. Her farewell tour takes her through Germany and Russia. There may be stops in the United States (hopefully).
