Some of the times major incidents made it obvious that a celebrity is going to get canned. Other times it is unclear or controversial. For your entertainment we are looking back on some of the most memorable “pink slip” moments.

A couple years ago “Grey’s Anatomy” lost one of their big stars, Isaiah Washington. After an apparent run in with co-star Patrick Dempsey and making a homosexual slur to another cast member, the show decided to let him go. Even though it seemed pretty straight forward, the fired actor was very upset and said in a statement:

“I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.”

Now, in what I think will be the most remembered situation happened earlier this year to the guy in the photo above. After a 20 year relationship with NBC, and about 7 months as host of “The Tonight Show,” Conan O’Brien was booted out! In one of the most controversial moves ever, they gave the show back to previous host Jay Leno! He took it in a very classy way and is now back on top with his new TBS show. Check out his farewell speech below.

Another guy who is no doubt scandalous is Mel Gibson. He was recently denied from “Hangover 2” because of his behavior lately. Lindsay Lohan also had some trouble with roles because of her problems.

Some of the fired actors, I totally understand. However some, like Conan, just don’t make sense. I guess ultimately it is up to those in charge to make the final cuts. These are just a few instances of many more. Who do you think is the most interesting? Check out these pictures and video, and then leave me your comments below.

    Elmyra Lowe Says:

It is amazing how white america is more tolerant of racial slurs when the offenders are white than if the offender is black. Don Imus, radio host, referred to the Rutgers University women’s basketball team as being, “nappy-headed ‘hos”. Fuzzy Zoeller, pro golfer, was so upset over Tiger Woods winning the Master’s that he said, “I hope he doesn’t serve fried chicken next year at the Master’s Champion Dinner, or collard greens or whatever the hell “they” serve. Zoeller also referred to Mr. Woods as being a “little boy” keeping the “good old boy” adage alive which states that, “regardless of how old a nigger gets, he is still a boy. Kelly Tighman, a golf channel anchor stated that all young golfers need to “LYNCH” Tiger Woods in a back alley. And yet, none of these racist were fired or fined for their remarks. They were simply kept out of sight until things blew over then allowed to resume their lives and businesses as usual. But Isaiah Washington was fired and not allowed to redeem himself nor return to work after apologizing for doing the same as the white offenders. Only in America where racial tensions are continually allowed to run rampant does this imbalance of justice occur.

    Ken Maddox Says:

Seriously? We may not know whether Mr. Washington was fired for “acting up” or whether this was the excuse used to fire him. What we do know is that injustice has been historically directed against minorities. We know race has been the only factor to fire, not hire, or murder people. Whether you understand, realize, or agree, your attitude implies that it will continue to be used for many horrid purposes. Many people have been hanged for “Acting Up”, “Uppity”, or not staying “in their place”. Have the courage to acknowledge the historical truth, or does your use of a pseudonym imply your preference to hide a shameful present? For the record, I believe Elmyra’s comment to be interesting and thought provoking. I am less than interested in the thoughts they provoked in you.
