Steve Nash Divorce — A Split So Sudden

November 17, 2010

It’s been a hectic couple days for the Nash household. On Friday, November 12th, Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash, and wife Alejandra welcomed their third child, (and first boy) into the world. Matteo Joel Nash weighed in at seven pounds and seven ounces.

Later that evening, Nash was back on the court helping his team defeat the Sacramento Kings, making 28 points, 14 assists, and 7 rebounds. “We were the victim of a Hall of Fame player having a Hall of Fame night,” Sacramento coach Paul Westphal said. “Steve Nash was unspeakably sensational.”

Although some priorities might seem a bit skewed, it appeared Nash and his growing family was on top of the world. The next day, however, the couple announced that they would be getting a divorce and that they’ve actually been living separately for the last couple months. Nash released a statement to Life & Style magazine saying,

“I am very thankful and excited that we have a new son, Matteo Nash. Alejandra and the baby are doing fine. But this is a bittersweet moment for my wife and I; after five years, we are now in the process of dissolving our marriage.”

The gorgeous Paraguayan worked as a personal trainer and lived in Manhattan when she met the famous basketball player in 2001. They were married in 2005, after the birth of their twin daughters, Lola and Bella, who are now 6. She regularly contributes her help and time for many different charitable functions.

There have been rumors that the New York Knicks are reportedly interested in Nash’s possible availability due to the split. Knicks coach, Mike D’Antoni had great success coaching Nash while they were both with the Suns, and the two remain close.

What do you think? Should Nash be traded to the Knicks because he’s single and free now? A star like Nash makes enough cash to fly back and forth, but should he leave his new baby and family for a life of commuting so quickly?

So, Steve Nash joins the ranks of elite celebreties like Tiger Woods and Bill Clinton.

I thought he was different, the exception. I thought he was… normal. He even posts videos parodying the personality he isn’t.

    Guess not.

why are u attacking steve? Why do u assume that he cheated or that he is responsible for the divorce? Women arent innocent either and many times women are responsible for the break up.

How can you wrong steve for working hard, she was doing whatever she wanted. Afforded priveleges she never would have previously. Money like that doesn’t come without sacrifice.
    More money more problems.

Within the last week, we alternately have been taken aback… and turned off by Steve Nash’s startling divorce announcement the day after his wife gave birth to their third child and first son (earthquakes have more tender timing).

Had Nash waited a while to run the pick-and-roll out of his wife’s life, he hardly would have aroused suspicion of how badly their marriage had failed. But he was out of there and back on defense before his wife’s episiotomy sutures were removed. Talk about post-partum depression.
