Her Playboy photos were quite disappointing, and I’m sure some of you guys will disagree. I think she looked better in her FHM and Maxim spreads.
It will be interesting to see if Amanda can make it to her fourth Olympics this summer. The defending women’s Olympic 200 Breaststroke champ might be past her prime, but who knows? She could surprise all of us and be a contender, but she’ll have to get past the current world record holder in the 200 Breaststroke, Leisel Jones from Australia.
ESPN the Magazine has a new blog and they have chosen Amanda to give out advice…not about swimming but about…sex. Hmmm. No comment.

Why shouldn’t Amanda Beard pose naked in the PETA campaign or in Playboy or anywhere else for that matter? Because she has talent as an accomplished athlete and doesn’t need to degrade herself. The fact that she did is a disgrace to herself and all women who continue to get degraded in our society because people like her don’t step up and say, “No… my self-respect is more important than money.” It’s a real shame.

In fact, no one needs to degrade themselves. Work hard and make money in other ways. The fact that she did is a disgrace to herself and all women who continue to get degraded in our society because people like her don’t step up and say, “No… my self-respect is more important than money.” It’s a real shame.
