Jake Shields, 31, is now officially a part of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, as he has signed a multi-fight deal with the organization, according to reports. This is exciting news for fight fans because Shields is an explosive and highly entertaining fighter to watch. He is currently ranked as the #3 middleweight in the world.
Shields has been a champion in just about every respectable fighting organization except for the UFC, but with his tremendous ability that could change very quickly. For his first bout in the Dana White run fight club he will face off against Martin Kampmann as a welterweight at UFC 121.
Kampmann is coming off back-to-back wins against two very skilled fighters in Jacob Volkmann and Paulo Thiago, while his opponent is riding a remarkable 14-fight win streak, which also features a few notable victories – Robbie Lawler, Paul Daley and Carlos Condit.
Other key fights at UFC 121 – Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez, Jake Shields vs. Martin Kampmann, Diego Sanchez vs. Paulo Thiago, Tito Ortiz vs. Matt Hamil.
The fighting event is set to take place on Saturday, October 23, 2010. It will be aired live on Pay-Per-View from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
