Yoshihiro Akiyama and Michael Bisping are set to fight as the main event at UFC 120. This should be one for the books! Find out why below.
The UFC is trekking across the pond in the middle of October for UFC 120, which will air on Spike TV. I must say that for a non pay-per-view event there are some pretty awesome bouts scheduled to take place, including the headliner between the UK’s own Michael Bisping against Japan’s Yoshihiro Akiyama.
Rumors about this matchup have been circulating for a while, but as a result of Akiyama losing to Chris Leben at UFC 116 this fight was beginning to look doubtful. It seemed that Vitor Belfort would fill the slot, but Bisping shut down that idea himself by tweeting:
“Rumors were looking true, but now they aren’t.”
Now it appears that the Ultimate Fighting Championship has settled on Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Michael Bisping as the main event. I’ll be surprised if this fight is anything short of spectacular! I mean, Bisping (19-3-0) is a beast, and is diverse in his technique, as he practices Kickboxing, Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Wrestling. Akiyama (13-4-0) on the other hand is a former K-1 Heroes’ Light Heavyweight tournament champion and has received Fight of the Night Honors twice!

As far as ‘The Count’ is concerned ‘Sexyama’ shouldn’t be too difficult to beat. Here’s what Bisping had to say:
He’s definitely an interesting fight for me. …That said, I think he is tailor made for me. I respect him, I respect his skills and I respect everyone that steps into the Octagon and fights because you’re no slouch to do that but I think I can pick him apart all day long.”
Like I said, Michael is a tough guy, but let’s hope he doesn’t underestimate Yoshihiro come October 16, because that could potentially be a very costly mistake!
