Lightweight contenders Gray Maynard and Kenny Florian are set to face each other this Saturday at UFC 118. Get the scoop below.
There’s an old adage that says, “it’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game,” and in the game of Ultimate Championship Fighting it’s exactly that. I think I speak for most UFC fans when I say that I would rather watch two contenders with losing records fight, who are going to leave it all in the Octagon, than two contenders with winning records fight, who are going to tiptoe around each other the entire bout. I say this because although Gray Maynard holds a perfect record 10-0-0 it has been more of a challenge for him to win over MMA fans than to win fights.
Come Saturday Maynard has a chance to show fight fans what he is made of when he takes on Kenny Florian at UFC 118, and it appears as if that is exactly what he intends to do. This is what “The Bully” had to say about the upcoming bout:
“Kenny Florian is a tough kid. I’ve got to dominate him. It doesn’t have to be a knockout, but there can be no doubt that when it’s over I’ve clearly won. That’s the key.”
Ken-Flo on the other hand thinks that there is nothing that Maynard can do that he hasn’t already seen. Here are his thoughts:
“This is the best time for me to face Gray Maynard. I’m ready.”
There is only one thing for sure – by the end of this weekend we will know which one of these guys is the better fighter. Oh yeah, and more importantly which one of them is going to get a shot at the title as promised by UFC president Dana White.
Who will you be rooting for, Gray Maynard or Kenny Florian? Tell us in the comment section, hey, after all, that’s what it is there for. Also, check out some sweeeet video and pictures below.
