Adrienne Simmons was born in Atlanta 34 years ago. She went to the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2000 where she majored in art and minored in Art History in 2003. She was recently studying to get her degree in education, Adrienne’s dream was to be able to teach in public schools, her outstanding way of always seeing the positive side of things is what inspired this beautiful young fighter, she was not a fighter just because she actually practiced kickboxing, she was a fighter because she would fight for her dreams and she would fight for those who couldn’t fight for theirs.

“So, I’ll say again, you can do whatever you want to do. I wouldn’t have decided to go into teaching if I thought we should throw people away like garbage. If you really want to do something and you have a bunch of a-holes in your life trying to discourage you, message me and I’ll give you all my reasons for why I don’t think you’ll fail. And I’ll hook you up with someone who can probably help you do it, because I’m lucky that way”. Adrienne Simmons said.

She loved boxing with all her heart, she liked the way it made her feel – strong, invincible and beautiful. Adrienne Simmons was indeed a beautiful young woman, her light skin and gorgeous dark eyes bring out the best of her even when she had her hair pink and blond she looked amazing, like we saw in some of her pictures, her beautiful smile and laughter were one of the many things her family and friends would always remember about their sweet Adrienne.

She was a well determined woman, she never gave up even after she lost fights, she would be in the gym training, learning from her mistakes.

Adrienne, along with four other boxers flew to Orlando, Florida to compete at the 2010 IKF Amateur Kickboxing and Muay Thai Championships Tournament organized by Steve Fosson.

Adrienne had two fights before landing in her final fight on Sunday against Lindsay Scheer who had more experience, that was visible during her fight. In the first and second rounds Adrienne received hard kicks, but she kept on fighting, in the third round she received a left hook on her head during a three kick combo that sent her to the floor, the fight was stopped, but no one thought there was something serious, even less when she sat and talked to them. After that she was taken to the back where apparently she later collapsed. Her boyfriend Chike Lindsay-Ajudua, who is also a fighter, was with her, it was he who said that there was no ambulance to take Adrienne to the hospital. About thirty minutes passed until she was airlifted to the hospital and an hour to actually get there.

When she arrived at the hospital the swelling on her brain was terrible, she went into surgery and into a coma afterwards. Sadly Adrienne died on Monday July, 26th, 2010 around 9:00 p.m. Adrienne Simmons’ death is a terrible and sad news for the entire boxing world and sports overall. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and fans.
