There may be a tough road ahead for the wealthiest woman in France, Liliane Bettencourt the L’Oreal heiress. French police are questioning her in relation to some possible tax evasion, money laundering and political contributions that are against the law. For all the details, including a video, keep reading below the photo.

This all started when secret recordings, allegedly taken by her former butler surfaced last month and reveal some compromising information about where her money is going. They are apparently of her talking to her financial advisor Patrice de Maistre, and due to this the authorities have visited her house as a part of their investigation.

According to the suspected recordings there are several big accusations being connected with Ms. Bettencourt, the L’Oreal heiress. French police are looking into a couple of off shore accounts she may have that she is not reporting on her taxes. The accounts in question are based in Switzerland and could possibly hold around 80 million euros, which would be approximately $98.3 million!

These are not the only questionable behaviors being associated with her. Other things they are investigating are claims that she made very generous donations to President Nicolas Sarkozy, while he was campaigning in 2007, and Labor Minister Eric Woerth. Both of the political leaders have denied that they had anything to do with Bettencourt. If these accusations are true, it will show that Sarkozy was offered more than the legal amount for an election.

I guess after we hear more about the actual L’Oreal heiress’s French police questioning, we will see what is really going on. The 87 year old is in some hot water for now, that’s for sure. What do you think about the richest French woman evading the money laws? Let me know your thoughts about this whole situation below, after you check out this video.
