After the sad news that he wouldn’t be participating in ‘The Hobbit’ film, we heard a good surprise from Guillermo del Toro. ‘The Haunted Mansion’ movie is going to be remade and he will be working on it. You can read the full story below, with more photos and a video.
The 2003 film with the same name is not what moviegoers should expect to see, as the man who is now writing, producing and possibly directing explained. He has a deep connection with the Disney ride and has big visions expand the idea and make an awesome (possibly 3D) movie!
The announcement came at this year’s 2010 Comic-Con, where he also showed some eerie shots from his other movie in the works ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark.’ Hearing that Guillermo del Toro & ‘The Haunted Mansion’ were pairing up was welcome news for fans of his and his projects, after the disturbing news a few months ago that he unfortunately had to step back from doing ‘The Hobbit.’
“After nearly two years of living, breathing and designing a world as rich as Tolkien’s Middle Earth, I must, with great regret, take leave from helming these wonderful pictures.”
Apparently the problems with MGM were causing the film to be continually postponed. Though they are keeping a lot of the intimate details secret, we have heard some about their vision and one of the characters. The main haunter will be the Hat Box Ghost!
“It’s going to be a thrill ride for the whole family but it’s definitely going to be scary,” he said. “(Walt) Disney is one of the creators of some of the scariest images in my childhood. People forget that he not only made sweet images but also images of nightmare. We need to honor that side of the legacy.”
I have never really known too much about this guy, but after reading about his passion and how it seems so personal to him, I am very intrigued!
“For some people, it’s just a ride, but for others like me, it’s a way of life. We’re serious fanatics. I’m a big, big collector of it. I’ve been collecting not only memorabilia but artifacts and original artifacts from the mansion for the past 10 years.”
Soon enough we will know more details and see sneak peeks of the upcoming phenomenon. What do you think of Guillermo del Toro’s ‘The Haunted Mansion’ project? Let me know below after you check out these pictures and video.
