Due to the money issues with the MGM film studio, we may not see another 007 film for a while. The 23rd Bond movie canceled production until a buyer comes in to manage it. Keep reading to see what is happening with the franchise, with more photos and a video.
Back in April we heard about the major debt facing Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. They put themselves up for sale and unless someone coughs up the cash, no films will be coming out for a while. No worries though, the secret agent series won’t ever go away completely!
If MGM isn’t able to recover, some other company will undoubtedly take over the major money making spy movies. They initially said they were only delaying, but now we hear the Bond movie’s canceled until further notice.
“Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on BOND 23 indefinitely.”
The debt facing the film giant is about $3.7 billion and it doesn’t seem like they have much hope for recuperation. They recently released another statement saying they are “beginning a process to explore various strategic alternatives, including operating as a standalone entity, forming strategic partnerships and evaluating a potential sale of the company.”
I sure hope this issue gets resolved quickly, and I’m sure Sam Mendes & Daniel Craig do too! Can you imagine not having any more Bond movies? Canceled productions usually take a long time to recover and it doesn’t inspire much confidence. I am sure someone will save the day in true 007 fashion, though, and we will get the 23d installment we’ve all been waiting for!
What do you think of all the drama surrounding this production? Be sure to leave me your comments and enjoy checking out these photos and video!
