Brazil was coming for their next championship, but the Netherlands was not afraid of the Seleção, who won? What players took the field? Keep reading to know all the highlights of this match, final results and more plus check out these cool photos and video below.
The Oranje was coming strong after proving they could face any team that came in their way, but would they be able to face the best soccer team in the world?
Robinho tried to open the scoring board, but his goal didn’t count at the beginning of the match and Robinho was not giving up and he finally scored Brazil’s fist goal on the 10th minute. Then it was Kaka who threw a beautiful kick.
Brazil was more dominant during the first half, they could easily take the Jabulami from Netherlands, but history changed its course during the second half and specially after the 53rd minute when Sneijder scored the first goal for Netherlands after Julio Cesar came out wrong.
Another side of Brazil was playing afterwards, they couldn’t concentrate, they couldn’t recover the ball or get near to score and that mistake cost them. After just 15 minutes after Netherlands scored their first goal, Sneijder did it again, Julio Cesar couldn’t believe what just happened it seems that his Internazionale teammate knew where to kick the goalkeeper’s zone.
Brazil has been left out from the World Cup, their fans were not ready to face that reality, I wasn’t either, but the minutes were running and the match was getting close to the end, three minutes were added to the injury time and Brazil was not getting a draw but the other way around, they were saying goodbye to South Africa.
Netherlands was celebrating, their coach couldn’t believe what just happened and Sneijder was Netherlands’ hero, man of the match, most valuable player of the day, but for Brazil he was their executioner. The last time Netherlands faced Brazil at quarterfinals was at the 1994 World Cup in the United States where Brazil defeated them 3-2, Now Netherlands got the revenge and who knows maybe they can win the championship, their best results were in 1974 and 1978 where they were runnerups vs. West Germany (74) and Argentina(78).
