One of the most successful and recognizable swimmers in the U.S has to be the beautiful Jenny Beth Thompson, for some time we didnâ€™t hear much about her, but what did just happen to her that involved some burglars and her scooter? Jennifer Beth Thompson was born in Danvers, Massachusetts on February 26, 1973 so Jennyâ€™s age will be 37 years old. Jenny started swimming at a very young age, she liked it so much that she swam under the direction of Nancy Pearson Brennan at the Andover-North Andover YMCA.
When she reached 12 years old she switched to coaches Mike and Anne Parratto at Seacoast Swimming Association and in 1987 she became pro, swimming for the very first time at the Pan American Games where she won the first place (50 M Freestyle) and third (100 M Freestyle) Bronze (100 M Freestyle).
Two years later at the Pan Pacific Championships she won two gold medals, and from 1991 to 2002 she has won a total of two bronze medals, four silver and an incredible twenty five gold medals.
At the World Championships from 1997 to 2004 she has won four bronze, ten silver and eighteen gold medals. At the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain she won two gold medals (4×100 freestyle and medley), at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta 3 gold medals (4×100 freestyle, 4×200 freestyle and 4×100 medley), 2000 Olympics in Sydney three gold medals (4×100 freestyle, 4×200 freestyle and 4×100 medley) one bronze (100mm freestyle), 1992 Olympics in Barcelona one silver 9100m freestyle), 2004 Athens two silvers (4×100 freestyle, medley).
She was awarded with the Swimming Swimmer of the year award in 1993 and 1998 and the Female World Swimmer of the year in 1998 by Swimming World Magazine and Athlete of the Year in 2000 by the Womanâ€™s Sports Foundation. Jenny went to college at Stanford University and got her medical degree from Columbia in 2006. She is currently living in Boston where she is a resident anesthesiologist at Brighamâ€™s and Womanâ€™s Hospital and she also takes time to help children in underprivileged zones.
it was at Boston where Jenny had a terrible experience when two men were driving behind her while she was riding her scooter with no lights and hit her and tried to steal her scooter, she is well and just suffered a cut on her nose and other minor injuries.
