The hugely popular series recently won the top prize at the Licensing International Expo 2010 for the Overall Best License of the Year. Products from the movie include the standard lot of posters and t-shirts, but also include specialty items such as games, full-size wall stickers, and now exclusive jewelry.
The Eclipse engagement ring is sure to do well, and reports indicate that the $2,000 version is in high demand. The actual ring for the movie was apparently made by author Stephanie Meyer herself after she was left unsatisfied by months of work by effects designers to re-create the jewelry from her book.
“Nestled into the black satin, Elizabeth Masen’s ring sparkled in the dim light. The face was a long oval, set with slanting rows of glittering round stones. The band was gold – delicate and narrow. The gold made a fragile web around the diamonds.”
As much as the scene meant to movie fans, the actors say that they’d rather avoid the kind of drama involved in the movie’s love-triangle.
“I’ve never been in a love triangle,” Lautner told reporters. “I would not want to be in that situation. I wouldn’t want to be in Bella’s situation for sure. Or Jacobs. Or Edwards!”
Rob Pattinson said that he’s glad to be playing Edward in the movie, as he would not want to play Lautner’s role in real life.
“I’m not good at doing it. I just kind of leave it alone. And also I guess, well I was about to say if you own the girl, but that doesn’t make sense, if you are the one with the girl in the first place I guess maybe you’re forced into fighting a little bit. But I would never be in Jacob’s position, then you’re just the guy that broke up the couple.”
