Zenani was just thirteen years when she died on June 11, 2010 in a tragic car accident when she traveling back home after attending the opening concert in Orlando Stadium.
Zenani Mandela was born on June 9, 1997 daughter of Zoleka SeaKamela. She was a bright, sweet and gorgeous little girl. She was the youngest of nine great granddaughters and grandson from the former president’s second marriage with Winnie Madikizela-Mandela with whom he had two daughters Zenani and Zindzi.
While sources said that Winnie was in the car, but Sello Hatang, a spokesperson from the Mandela Foundation denied it, but did say that she was at the hospital after she was left in shock after receiving the terrible news.
Zenani attended the World Cup kick off celebration in the Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg where she was dancing, singing along with millions of South Africans and fans from all over the world. Just last year Zenani was giving the Brazil the Confederation cup Trophy maybe that was the first time we saw a picture of her.
It was a great celebration indeed, but as you can imagine the car traffic back home was terrible, it was during that ride back home that Zenani was involved in that terrible car accident that ended her young life, when a drunk driver collided with their car at exactly 00:35 a.m
The driver was taken into arrest for suspicion of drunk driving and culpable homicide.
"I can confirm that the driver of the vehicle in which Zenani Mandela was killed has been arrested on suspicion of being drunk and on suspicion of culpable homicide," Brigadler Govindsamy from the South African Police Department said.
Although Zenani’s great grand father is expected to attend the World Cup Open Ceremony, it was announced that he wouldn’t be there or the match against Mexico and South Africa.
