Snow White Remake in 3D with Brett Ratner!

June 6, 2010

A Snow White remake is reportedly in the works, and insiders say the new version will be ‘darker and edgier’ than the original. Disney’s beloved classic will be re-tooled by Brett Ratner, the director of Rush Hour and X-Men: The Last Stand. At first he seems an odd choice for a children’s classic, but it looks like the new movie won’t be aimed at children alone. Check out the full story, with photos and video below!

Like Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” remake starring Johnny Depp, the new movie will expand on the original storyline, and include some darker elements to fill out the plot. Going with the current trend, Ratner plans to produce the final cut in 3D.

His Snow White remake, he says, will be aimed at the generation who grew up watching the Disney classic.

“This is not your grandfather’s Snow White,” the director said. “Melisa went back to the 500 year old folk tale and put in some of the things that were missing from Walt Disney’s film. His dwarves were miners, and here they are robbers. There is also a dragon that was in the original folk tale. Walt made one of the great movies of all time, but ours is edgy and there is more comedy. The original, made for its time, was soft compared to what we’re going to do.”

‘Hi-Ho; Hi-Ho; It’s off to steal we go?’ Nice twist. And they are adding a dragon as well? Should be a fun movie! I really enjoyed the re-take on ‘Alice in Wonderland,’ and I hope Brett Ratner can do as good of a job with this timeless Disney classic.
