Did you see the interview Oprah did yesterday with Simon Cowell? Depression, surprisingly, was brought up by the American Idol judge, as he revealed that he has been affected by the disorder for years. Read more about the story plus photos and video below.
Just when you think nothing can break the judge everyone loves to hate, we learn that for Simon Cowell, depression affects him in such a way that no one should go anywhere near him when he is in one of those funks.
“When I’m like that I kind of feel like going into some slight hibernation. I’m very dark when I’m in those moments… I get very, very down. Don’t come near me. (I’m) like a bear in a cage.”
He did admit to making some mistakes along the way in his career, even having to move back in with his parents after a business deal didn’t go as planned and he lost his job, home and car.
So what does Cowell do to deal with the melancholia? Medication? Nope! He revealed, “I would never take a pill, for instance, to deal with that. It’s something I’ve got to deal with myself. I put it down to, ‘OK, so I’m a bit moody, bit over-dramatic about everything, give yourself a mental slap and get on with it.'”
I’m gonna miss Simon, as his stint on the show comes to an end next week. It just won’t be the same. He is the reason I love to tune in every season. To not hear ‘That was utterly horrendous’ anymore makes me sad!
So what do you think folks? Just goes to show that money isn’t everything and doesn’t buy happiness, as we find out from Simon Cowell. Depression can affect anyone.
