If we are to see a release next summer for the prequel of X-Men, Matthew Vaughn better get to work! He has been announced as the director and even with no cast announcements yet, they are supposed to start production this summer! Continue below for more info, including more photos and a video.
Claudia Schiffer’s husband has directed some similar types of films including the recent hit ‘Kick Ass.’ Many that are already involved in the movie are excited about this addition to the production. He sure does have some big shoes to fill though.
Bryan Singer, who we know from directing the first two of these Marvel movies, will produce this back-story of X-Men. Matthew Vaughn is a good choice according to him, saying after the announcement:
“I’ve been a fan of Matthew’s since ‘Layer Cake.’ He has a deft hand with multiple characters and storylines, and a great love of the X-Men universe. I feel the combination of this story and his vision will make for an exciting and original X-Men film.”
In similar opinion, Emma Watts president of production for Fox said:
“Matthew’s combination of talent, verve and vision is perfectly suited to the task. ‘X-Men: First Class’ presents an exciting opportunity to further explore the history and relationships of these beloved characters.”
This movie that he will direct will be a prequel looking further into the younger Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr (Magneto) before they became what we know them as today. The audience will see what happened before, that caused such a problem between the two. I am excited to see it!
What do you think of the announcement by those involved with X-Men? Matthew Vaughn, who also directed ‘Stardust’ and ‘Layer Cake,’ is a good fit? Let me know in the comment section, and check out some more photos and Hugh Jackman video of his thoughts on this project here.
