One of the top-selling female artists of all time is struggling against an upper respitory infection and has had to cancel a number of stops in her European tour. It hasn’t been an easy come-back for Whitney Houston, & illness is the last thing she needs right now. Check out the full story, as well as pictures and video below!
The iconic diva, so popular throughout the 80’s and 90’s, has struggled with drugs and a bad relationship in the early part of the millenium. She split with her husband in 2006, who she had admitted using drugs with. Since then, she has revamped her image and her habits, saying she is completely clean.
Now, with pressures of a global tour and a newly released album, some worry that the diva has turned back to old habits under stress. In her defense, she says the rumors are “ridiculous.”
“At this point I just don’t respond, I don’t even read it.”
Yes, it does sound like mudslinging to me at this point! Responding to her health struggles, her record label, RCA, said:
“Doctors visited Whitney late last night in Paris and confirmed that she was suffering from an upper respiratory infection. Upon medical advice, Whitney has been advised that she cannot perform to allow her time to recover.”
A lot of people are excited to see what comes of this new Whitney Houston, & illness may set her back temporarily, but I feel like she could do great thing in the near future! Her new album, “I Look To You” reached platinum in the US and was the second best female album in the States in 2009. Despite canceling her shows, she says:
“I’m feeling great. I’m just ready to move on and continue my world tour. My health is terrific, but this is a time when I get a lot of allergies.”
Hopefully, it was allergies that affected her recent performance in Australia, where numerous fans walked away disappointed (see video below). Ticket holders to her canceled shows are being told to hold on to their tickets which will be valid at future shows.
Did Whitney Huston & illness cancellations affect you? Do you think she’ll be able to make a come-back if her health continues to falter? Let me know in the comments section!
