This is just a sad story as a family in Florida grieves the death of their boy, killed by a Disney bus. The incident happened Thursday and it is now being investigated. Continue for more on this tragic event.
Fort Wilderness is a 750 acre rough country style resort, and this is the third incident of this type in the last six months. Apparently the 9 year old boy was riding bikes with a friend when he veered off the sidewalk and was hit by the vehicle. Now the authorities are inspecting the collision.
Unfortunately this area has suffered two other automobile incidents recently. Last week two vehicles ran into each other injuring 8 tourists, including one seriously, and then in October a golf cart tipped over and a girl was left in critical condition.
No charges have yet been filed in this case of the boy killed by Disney bus. We are not sure why the boy left the sidewalk or if the bus driver did anything questionable, but we do know what happened after the two collided. Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes stated, “The physical evidence shows that the little boy hit the side of the bus.” After this he was dragged under the rear tire and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The resort is very regretful of the incident and had this remark in a press conference: “We are deeply saddened about what happened and are doing everything we can to provide resources and support to the family,” Disney World President Meg Crofton said.
Even though we don’t know much of the contributing factors, everyone seems to think it was an accident that had a fatal result. No one likes to hear stories like this and I wish the family all the best. I am hoping as the authorities look into this incident of a boy killed by Disney’s bus some resolution can be found and everyone can move on.
