As another season of the very popular dance show is about to kick off we hear that Buzz Aldrin, oldest male contestant ever on DWTS may do fairly well. We’ve kind of seen this trend before with older contestants and I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens in this case. Read all about it below, and see more pictures and video.

Buzz Aldrin 7

He was the second man to walk on the moon, and will be walking on to the set of Dancing With the Stars as it premiers Monday, the 22nd. And then Buzz will have to shake those 80 year old hips and see how far he can go in the competition. Every year has interesting choices of contestants, but this year’s are sure to draw a crowd!

Cloris Leachman, age 82, was the oldest star to appear on the show, and now we have Aldrin, oldest male contestant ever on DWTS. We have seen the sympathy of the voters as aging dancers have made it about halfway through the seasons before, and Jerry Springer even came in 5th during his competition.

Along with the astronaut, we will we see Pamela Anderson, who will sure be worth watching to see how she handles the swaying. Fresh off the Bachelor, Jake Pavelka who is already super popular on the station will try and swing his young body into the final. And of course drama queen Kate Gosselin will grace us with her presence. You can see more about the lineup of contestants here.

He seems to be in good spirits as he faces this challenge. I will definitely check it out to see him and all the other stars try to dance their way to victory. We shall see as we watch Tom Bergeron, and new co-host Brooke Burke take us through the episodes.

What do you think about the decision to cast Buzz Aldrin, oldest male contestant ever on DWTS? Let me know, and check out some photos and a video interview with the former space man.
